Apex Drift is a love letter to OutRun-era arcade racers, rebuilt for the browser with a synthwave soul. The throttle is automatic — your job is the interesting part: pick lines through traffic, hold drifts through bends, and decide exactly when to burn the nitro you earned.
Three risk loops feed each other. Drifting in bends charges your nitro gauge. Nitro pushes your top speed 35% higher. And higher speed makes near-misses — skimming past traffic within half a car's width — worth up to 1000 points a pass at combo ×10. Crash and you lose the combo and your momentum.
Every backdrop and car sprite is AI-painted: a blazing sunset coast, a neon-purple midnight metropolis, and an aurora-lit summit where ice cuts your grip and forces earlier turn-ins.
How to play
- Steer with arrow keys / A D or on-screen buttons — throttle is automatic.
- Hold ↓ in a bend to drift and charge nitro; release to bank the drift score.
- Space fires nitro when the gauge is full: 3 seconds of +35% top speed.
- Reach checkpoints to add time; finish with 15+ seconds left for gold.
- Earn credits to unlock 6 cars with different top speed, steering and nitro stats.
- Daily Challenge: one seeded track worldwide each UTC day, ranked by score.
